<h2> ERIS holds Electoral Dispute Roundtable in Tunisia</h2>

<p>As part of its EU-funded Electoral Assistance project in Tunisia, ERIS organised a roundtable on adjudication of electoral disputes related to the October 23, 2011 Constituent National Assembly elections.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>It was conducted in conjunction with the Administrative Tribunal of Tunisia and in partnership with the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe.</p>
<p>Three prominent European judges served as experts for the discussion, and participants included 40 magistrates from the Administrative Tribunal. </p>
<p>The roundtable was designed, in light of the recent experience, to help improve the legal framework around elections in preparation for future voting processes by reviewing the procedures and deficiencies that arose in October 2011</p>
<p>The event took place in Tunis on 17 and 18 January 2012 and has received wide coverage in the Tunisian media.</p>
An article in <strong><a href="http://www.lapresse.tn/18012012/43766/les-delais-des-verdicts-sont-ils-suffisants.html/">La Presse de Tunisie</a> outlined some of the key points that were debated on the first day (please note that this article is in French).
