If your company hasn’t already begun carving out an online presence it might be difficult to know where to start. However, there’s no real reason why you should believe that search engine optimisation isn’t the marketing strategy that would best suit your business. We at SEO Positive believe that your website is one of the most crucial investments you’ll ever make, so why not promote it as much as possible?

Money is of course one of the most important considerations for any organisation. SEO has a reputation for being a costly affair due to the amount of time your SEO company must spend analysing and tweaking your strategy. You’ll be surprised to find, however, that a little extra expenditure in the early stages can instigate great rewards further down the line. Various reports, including that of the respected SEO authority eConsultancy, have found that SEO generates a higher return on investment compared to the more traditional email marketing technique. Business owners can often be put off by the amount of patience required once they’ve undertaken the search engine optimisation – it can be difficult to measure real results during the first phase of the campaign and it can be several months before a true increase in enquiries or sales is noticeable. But remember, once you’re up there achieving first page positions, you’ve not only gained more recognition but generated awareness of your brand and your services as a whole, which can only aid your reputation!

Smaller businesses may perhaps believe that SEO is a waste of time because they’re only interested in targeting the local area. Posting leaflets through letterboxes and attending local trade fairs will only get you so far - the truth is, more and more people are turning to the internet and, more importantly, the search engines to find the services or products they need. Keep up with your competitors by talking on the search engines for maximum exposure. Geo-targeting, or targeting search terms that refer to a particular region, is an incredibly effective way of drawing in relevant traffic and can actually work out to be cheaper than aiming to cover the entire country.

If you don’t sell your products or services directly from your website, you may wonder why it’s important for consumers to come across it in the first place. You may not have anticipated receiving very much interest from web users, but why not try and generate business from as many different portals as possible? Search engine optimisation drives footfall to your web pages, but in order to retain the attention of the user you need to convince them that they need your business. Even the simplest brochure website can contain crucial contact details, and, when clearly designed calls to action are combined with well-written content and informative text, those who stumble across your site may be convinced to give you a call.

Key phrases are one of the biggest considerations when it comes to formulating an SEO strategy, and many website owners find it difficult to think in the shoes of their target market. This is where employing an SEO company comes in really handy, as you’ll benefit from the outside perspective and a fresh approach to your online promotions. Your firm will be able to suggest alternatives to simply targeting the generic key terms and will work your keyword selection around realistic expectations, eliminating the frustration and worry from day one.

Lastly, we recognise that SEO might seem like an overwhelming prospect for many business owners. The myth remains that the art of search engine optimisation is shrouded in secrecy and cannot be achieved without the help of specialist staff. Actually, you can do a lot of research into SEO techniques and tricks yourself before you even consider employing an SEO consultant. You may think that you’ll never be able to take on your largest rivals, especially if you’re very new to the web, but by clue-ing yourself up on the latest SEO trends and utilising the expertise of an experienced SEO consultant, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t become a serious contender for those much-coveted first page positions.

Remember, if you still think SEO isn’t for you, there are plenty of other options available. Pay Per Click marketing is best suited to businesses who want to achieve more sales, fast, whereas strategies such as display advertising tap into the psyche of your potential consumers and target a much more specific demographic. Regardless of your current SERPs or your marketing budget, get in touch with SEO Positive today to discuss the ways in which these kind of marketing methods can boost your business – both online and offline.

SEO Positive have been reviewing Caphyon’s Advanced Website Ranking Tool recently and we have to say that we are very impressed with the over all quality of the reports. But what and who are Caphyon? Caphyon are an independent search engine optimisation moderation business that sell there website ranking software to clients such as Apple, Amazon, Sony and Siemens to name a few. With clients such as those on board a bad word can’t be said about the very impressive piece of software they have for sale.

The advanced web ranking tool has capabilities such as search engine ranking checks, Keyword research tools, link popularity tools and even a link manager. These are just a few of the tools they have to offer in this massively helpful tool.

We’re going to review each of our favorite features of the Advanced Website Ranking software, and firstly we have found the keyword research tools to be the most useful as it offers a total breakdown and current position of each of your chosen keywords, it even estimates how many searches there are likely to be for that chosen keyword, which is great for our clients as it helps us optimise any website for a lower budget, rank faster and cement there websites positions in the search engines.

But this isn’t just a singular tool, for increased accuracy they’ve cleverly tied up a few fantastic tools to give you the most accurate report for your keywords, as well as offering current positions the tool has a trend monitor so that your website keeps up with current search engine heuristics and niche markets.

Our second favorite tool in the website ranking tool is the Google AJAX API, allowing us to give precise ranking positions for specific keywords for each one of our clients. Which is great as it keeps our profile on the website totally transparent. Which both our clients and SEO Positive love, having the ability to offer keyword research tools without having to alter a website makes search engine optimisation much easier for the client and us here at SEO Positive.

And lastly, our third favorite in the top 3 features of this beautifully crafted piece of kit is the ‘human emulation’ This clever tool will emulate a human using a browser to almost trick the search engines into giving you results in real time, as API’s don’t often reflect the actual web results this offers you totally accurate reports based on the web results that your search term returns which makes your reports very accurate without the hassle of having to manually perform all the searches and collating a report from scratch based on your results

Overall the web ranking tool is a very good piece of software and almost a must for any aspiring SEO company and we give it a firm 9 out of 10 and would recommend it to anyone looking at optimising there website.

We also put a fair amount of time into reviewing the link manager tool that Caphyon have to offer amongst other superb ranking tools, and this was a particularly exciting concept for SEO Positive, as we understand, as an SEO company the monotony of link management and link monitoring.

We’re again going to review our top 3 favorite features of this piece of software, and firstly our favorite feature is the domain quality tool, when link building it is important to only get links from websites that are relevant, active and have a good page rank, what this tool does is it gives you a report for a singular or multiple domains that you either own yourself or websites you’re planning to link to or receive a link from to ensure that you only trade links with respectable websites if you’re running a reciprocal link campaign or you’re link building for any website. We personally find this tool saves us many hours of work at SEO Positive as we do not need to manually go through results, reviews and the websites history to check how well the website is, was and will be doing in search engines.

Our second favourite feature of the advanced link manager software is the ‘find link partners’ tool, this saves many hours of research and Google-ing to find potential link partners, the tool performs a search on search engines and uses the results to give you potential link partners. The tool doesn’t just pick the top 10 sites and give you those though, it uses the most advanced search criteria possible to give you the best matches to the site you are running the link building campaign on.

And lastly, the third favourite of this tool is the on page analysis tools that come with this software, on page SEO is very important and because of this its incredibly important to get everything as perfect as possible first time round. The tool has a multitude of different ways to analyze pages for analysis. You can enter a URL and the tool will scan top level links for analysis or add URI’s to be analyzed.

Once analysis has been completed you can put a report together including details such as page rank, meta tags such as keywords, description, title and autor etc and the number of outgoing links. It also benchmarks your website giving you a response time and size of the current page offering a report of how to further optimise your web page.

But our favourite part of this tool is being able to check competitor’s websites both of our clients and competitors of SEO Positive.

All in all, after reviewing this piece of software, we will again give it a sturdy 9/10 for its overall useful-ness.

On conclusion both of these pieces of software are great to have and incredibly useful, they save SEO Positive a priceless number of hours and the reports we give to current, new and past clients are very detailed and after feedback from clients. They are very happy with the quality and detail of these reports. Caphyon have done a fantastic job at offering a totally transparent piece of reporting software available at a reasonable price to anyone.

Search engine optimisation is not done via the use of only one strategy nor is it successful using only a single step. Effective Search engine optimisation, as SEO companies and SEO consultants can vouch for, will require several steps. Among these steps are the planning, implementation and the monitoring stages, notice that SEO doesn’t have an end stage because it is after all a continuous process that will only end if you decide for it to end or if it is already the end of the internet technology, the latter of course being highly unlikely. The stages mentioned above are the basic steps for a starting SEO to follow in order to direct his or her SEO campaign into the right direction. Starting the SEO campaign is as important as the implementation and the monitoring of such campaign thus it is important to give equal attention to the different stages as mentioned herein.

The Planning stage is the step where SEO companies, SEO consultants and even just SEO practitioners starts to map out the different SEO strategies to be implemented later on. This stage will also determine the different contingency plans in case the implemented strategies are not going to work or if such has been rendered useless. The planning stage further includes the research phase where keywords, competitive keywords, competitor’s websites and Search results data are gathered for the next phase in the planning stage the analysis phase. The analysis phase will rely heavily on the data gathered from the research phase and these data will be analysed as to their effectivity and competitiveness in terms of the data gathered from the keyword research and the website structure and strategies employed by the competitor website. From the analysis result strategies will then be formulated.

The Implementation stage, as the name implies is the actual application already of the different strategies formulated during the planning stage and this will include all the different implementation steps in SEO, such as but is not limited to incorporation of keywords in the content, using the ALT attribute in the website images, reconstruction of the website to conform to the SEO campaigns’ aims, using social media networks and asking for link exchanges. This is where the bulk of the search engine optimisation work is seen to be performed by the SEO company and SEO consultant.

The monitoring stage is done after all formulated strategies are already implemented to the website. The monitoring stage now only requires Search engine optimisation practitioners to monitor statistical data from the different analytics engine or tracking applications installed in the website. So what are we to monitor exactly? Basically the number of traffic entering your website, conversion rates and also number of sites linked to you and even whether or not your websites’ content is being plagiarised by other websites. It is important to keep track of these because these are the factors that will allow you to make a sound judgment on how you will proceed with your SEO campaign.

For a Search engine optimisation consultant, company or a practitioner every change in the search engine algorithm is important. The slightest movement in a search engine algorithm will dictate how one’s website will rank in that particular search engine. This is the reason why most SEO companies and SEO consultants are on their toes every time a change in algorithm is announced or observed. Changing search engine algorithm will cause the repositioning of websites in terms of their rankings, but what if there is a drastic change in search engine algorithm? Such as changing the entire search engine? This event happened when Microsoft unveiled their newest search engine that is said to replace the existing Microsoft search engine. Microsoft announced the launching of Bing, a new search engine that is said to take Google head on in terms of battling for the search engine supremacy. This change in algorithm does not only affect internet users but also SEO companies, SEO consultants and SEO practitioners because of the fact that such new search engine may later on become a significant instrument in one’s own SEO campaign.

This is the reason why most SEO companies and SEO consultants have been observing Bing, in order to gain insights on how websites are ranked on its SERP. With only a few days passed after the search engine called Bing was launched it already posted some information that are beneficial to Search engine optimisation in general.

The first aspect that has been observed in order to get a good ranking in Bing is through the use of keyword rich meta data and the second aspect that could aide your SEO campaign is the use of inbound links and the use of keyword rich text in your website content.

Search Engine Optimisation or SEO in the computer jargon is a combination of a diverse set of processes that is executed for the purpose of increasing the targeted traffic that enters or visits your website emanating from search engines. Quite a mouthful of words when stated verbally isn’t it? Well let’s try to understand the concept of Search Engine Optimisation shall we?

As stated above SEO is a diverse set of processes, therefore it involves not one single procedure to be executed unlike in web design or web programming where the focus is just to write the code for your web application in SEO it’s a combination of several processes that when taken individually it would not accomplish your goal on SEO.

What are these processes that we are talking about here then?
HTML Coding – since we are dealing with the internet naturally we will be dealing with websites thus a strong background on the lingua franca of the internet which is HTML is a must for every aspiring SEO company or individual contractors. For what purpose will you use your HTML knowledge in SEO? Well, since Search Engine Optimization’s success partially lies in the keywords as well as the “age” of your website you will need to restructure, change or edit your HTML texts every now and then to keep your website design current or up-to-date. This will also include updating your site’s web design.
“Talking” to the Search Engine – One of the most common and cheap way of attaining search engine visibility is by communicating to the search engines.

Do we mean a literal communication by calling up the search engines’ tech support? Well, you can do that but it will not serve you any purpose. When we say communication here we mean allowing the search engine to “find” our website. Let me explain this in a nutshell, search engines have website miners or commonly known as robots or spiders these are not actual spiders but are software application whose purpose is to gather your website’s texts for analysis through what is commonly known as the central engine, so that is the part of the search engine communicating with your website. How then would you communicate back to the search engine? By adding in your html code keywords that are placed within your meta tag under the keyword attribute. You now then supply the keywords that the spiders will be looking for and hopefully ranking in their search results after analysis through the “central engine”.

Paying for listing and linking – This is the more aggressive process in search engine optimization and also the most expensive. Here you will have to pay the search engine company to list you in their search result. So most of the process here can be done by contacting the marketing team of the search engine companies like google and yahoo!. Another process is to pay for linking, have you tried advertising over the radio or television? Well, the concept is also the same, you pay the company the offers pay per click or PPC to advertise your site by providing links to your site from other websites that hosts the company’s advertisements. Example of this is by enrolling to the google adwords where you pay google for every click made to the link leading to your website, in this manner you are expanding the scope of your presence over the web, for a price.

So basically these are the idea of the processes involved in Search Engine Optimisation or SEO and the ultimate goal of these? Well as mentioned to gain ranking and first page presence in a search engine result. Let’s be honest who here will view search results from page 3 to the last page? That’s what I thought.

I have spoken to a few people recently who think that optimisation is a simple process of just ading a few META tags and a case of building a few links, and thats it, they should apprear on the first page of the search engines or competative keywords.

To help try and clear up the confusion I have made a list of a few of the things that need need to be done to a website to begin SEO. These are just a short list of the basics:

Optimise Page Titles

Meta Description Optimisation

Link Out To Related Websites

301 Redirect throughout the website

Ensure all the URL’s of the website are optimised

Optimise the Header tags (H1, H2, H3 Etc)

Include a completed sitemap

Correct Keyword density implemented

Correct use of internal links

Ensure there is no duplicate content issues throughout the website

These are just a few very basaic rules of standard SEO that you should follow, of course I could probably write an entire book on how to help rank your site, however I don’t have the tie to give that information out today (although I may write a book).

I will list other things that will help a site rank highly another time, so for more tips on ethical search engine optimisation, then you must keep up to date with the blog.

Many people think that when your number one on the major search engine like Google, Yahoo, and MSN that you will stay there. This is not the case! If you stop working on your website you will fall!

Below are a few points that I have put together to ensure that you hold your position on the first page of Google and the other search engines.

1. Continue to build links to your website. Links should be relevant to the theme of your website, and not to be placed on any link farms or sites that could penalise you as this will not help, but could get you taken out of the search results altogether.

2. Add more unique content to your website all the time. This is probably one of the most important factors of search engine optimisation, along with link building. If you only update your website once every 6 months or longer than that, then the site will go stail, and Google will think that it is not important any longer, therefore they will reduce the positions that you show in the search results. Keep updating the content of your site to remian high in the SERPS. If your not sure what other pages to add to your site, get a blog added to your website and add regular news and updates in the industry on it.

3. Keep up to date with Googles updates. Ensure you are a member of certain communities, and forums that will help you better understand the changes that are going on in the SEO world. Google will eventually change their algorithm, and unless you are in the know, you can quite easily lose that top placement, or even drop a few pages. It only takes an hour a day to keep up to date if you know where to go.

Following these simple rules will not guarantee you high positions in the search engines, but they will certainly help you on your quest for top search rankings in the major searh engines.
