Google has released an update inside Adwords, and it is all to do with location targeting. The update makes it possibly to target specific towns and even counties with your PPC campaign, this is a great feature and allows Google users to be as specific as they can with their campaigns.

Before Google released this update, there were two choices, you could choose a radius, or you could attempt to draw the area that you want to cover. Obviously there are a lot of issues with this because it is fairly inaccurate because at the end of the day it is all down to guess work. Guessing is the last thing you should be doing with PPC and Google has finally recognized that.

With the new update, just simply type in the town or county you want to target and it will come up with something like this:

It shows variations of what you have searched for, so you can get exactly where your targeting. Not only that, but it also provides you with how many people are in that area, so you can see how many potential customers you are reaching out to.

Once you have selected your area, it will show up like this.

As you can see this is a very detailed outline of the area, which is essential to targeting the right locations.

Conclusion

This update to Adwords is brilliant for PPC managers because it allows for precise targeting, this isn’t just something for the PPC ninjas out there, it can be used by the average Joe due to its’ simplicity in how it is set up. The only problem I have found is that it cannot target the smaller areas, like an area within a city. I found this by searching for Broomfield, which is in Chelmsford, and Chelmsford does show up on the precise targeting locations, but due to Broomfields’ small population (when compared to areas like London) it does not show. Google has obviously targeted the areas that are worth targeting and I think the problem I found will rarely pop up. All in all, great job on the update Google, this will give Adwords an easier usability by far.

Many marketing specialists are now turning into the field of internet marketing where they apply traditional marketing techniques on their internet marketing strategies. The fusion of these traditional with modern marketing techniques or strategies has proven to be helpful in increasing the revenue for a company.

One of the modern marketing strategy that can be fused with a traditional marketing technique is Pay Per Click Advertising or commonly known as PPC. Every PPC consultant is aware of the fact that a PPC campaign would only be considered to be successful if it has a high conversion rate, that is, there are many visitors who will avail of the products or services being offered by the company. Of course, traffic is important in PPC however it is a lot more important if this traffic would convert or would avail of the products or services as offered in the target website. Advertising online is no different than the conventional advertising using the tri-media, that is print, radio and television. This is the reason why traditional marketing techniques if done correctly may help increase the conversion rate of a PPC campaign.

One of the most helpful PPC campaign strategies is by utilising landing pages as a way to engage the interest of your traffic or potential clients. However, a mere landing page without substance would also be useless. This is where the traditional AIDA principle would come in. AIDA stands for Attention, Interest, Desire, Action. In a landing page, observing the AIDA principle would help increase your conversion if done right of course. Let us break down what AIDA’s role is in PPC.

1. Attention – this means that your landing page should grab the attention of the user, everyone knows that it is very easy for an internet user to navigate away from the site that he is currently viewing, therefore your design of the landing page should catch the attention of the user.

2. Interest - Along with capturing the attention of the user or your landing page visitor it is important to also spark the interest of the user, catchy text or phrases may be used to accomplish this.

3. Desire – your content information must arouse the desire of the user to get the product or avail of the services that your company or website is offering. Discounts, promos and reward points may be offered.

4. Action – your landing page must also contain action phrases such as “buy now!” among other texts in order to engage the client to make the purchase.

AIDA principle is one of these traditional marketing strategies being utilised in advertising using the tri-media and which is also applicable for use in modern internet marketing , a technique that could prove to be useful in increasing your PPC campaigns conversion rate.

Google is considered to be the main focus of every SEO company in terms of the implementation of their SEO campaign. This is because of the fact that Google is the top search engine worldwide with more than sixty percent user shares for several years now, not to mention the fact that Google has become a household name. Ranking in Google search engine therefore is very important however doing this would mean having to go up against websites that already has an established SEO campaign and reputable ranking in the Google search engine results page.

The difficulty of ranking in Google is one of the factors to consider as it would result to implementing the SEO campaign for a very long time and during such time revenue or traffic may not be coming in. This is why some internet marketers are utilising other forms of marketing their website and one of the most popular alternatives to SEO is using pay per click services where their websites’ advertisements may be displayed in a number of websites which has Google adsense installed, Google’s pay-per-click service is known as Google Adwords.

Google Adwords would of course require the users to pay for every clicks that were done on their advertisements and previously for UK users of Google Adwords there is a limited avenue to control their billing or expenditures, which sometimes results to going beyond the company’s pay per click budget for the month. This is why Google Adwords has already added a new Billing tab that would enable Google Adwords users to implement manual payments and also this feature has the ability to make the users capable of delaying automatic charges which is a very useful tool especially for those who are following strict internet marketing budget.

Adwords users such as SEO Consultants can also modify the billing for their PPC campaign and create different forms of payments which the user can switch to any time. The incorporation of Google of these PPC billing features as well as the incorporation of the location specific Adwords targeting feature makes Google Adwords a very powerful tool in internet marketing.

Just last year many Search Engine Optimisation Companies anticipated and lauded the release of Google’s new search engine algorithm which was brought about by the launching of the search engine giant’s new product, the Google instant and the Google instant preview. With the introduction of these two new features for the Google search engines the search engine giant’s ranking factor was also modified in ways that would require SEO Consultants as well as SEO Experts to make some changes in their website and SEO campaign approach in order to accommodate Google’s new ranking factors. Change is constant in the world of the search engine giant because of the fact that the company is constantly improving their products and the delivery of their services to their clients or loyal users. It is because of this passion to improve that Google has again rolled out another new feature, this time involving a Google product the Google Adwords. It is a known fact that Google Adwords has become one of Internet Advertiser’s tool for generating revenue for their respective website and it is also a known fact that Google has not yet provided for any avenue for Adwords user to manage the use of negative keywords.

In the recent update that was released by Google in their Google Adwords service however, the search engine company has released their new Adwords interface in order to accommodate or allow internet marketer to be able to utilise a single negative keyword list across multiple campaigns. This will make it easier for internet marketers to incorporate negative keywords to multiple campaigns.

Another change that was implemented by Google is the modification of the Google Search ads display. It can be observed that the search ads of Google had some changes like that of a bigger space was allocated for a headline ad in order to accommodate the first line of description, ads being displayed in rows of three, and two description lines being merged into one for better presentation were among the said changes.

The field of search engine optimisation is considered to be one of the most tedious endeavors in the field of online business. This is may be attributed with the fact that there are several strategies that could be employed without any certainty in its results. Search engine optimisation could sometimes be considered as a hit or miss market as it would be common for one in the SEO business to fail and learn. The main target of search engine optimisation are the search engines this is why it is very important for an SEO company or an SEO consultant to be familiarised with the search engine both its backend processes as well as its front end or the physical appearance. It is only by understanding the physical appearance can an SEO company or an SEO consultant be able to decipher the actual results being shown by the search engine via its search engine results page. SEO companies and SEO consultants should familiarise themselves with their target application as it would definitely be the basis of their entire SEO campaign.

First Stop is the front-end part of a search engine, search engines may vary in design and in features but there will always be common features that may be found among all the search engine sites, and by understanding these similarities or common features one can readily interpret any results that may be shown by the search engine which may be relevant to the SEO research being conducted.

First part is the most common among all the search engines and that is the search box or sometimes called the query box. The query box or search box is where the users would enter or input their query strings or keywords, this is usually found at the center of the search engine and such location is common among all search engines.

The second part is the Search refinements or the specific search feature, this feature usually is found at the left column of the search engine results page and its purpose is to help users narrow down their search depending on the given category.

Another important part of a Search engine is the organic results page, this page of course would display the natural or organic search results based on the most optimised and relevant sites with that of the keywords entered.

Finally the Paid results page is also an integral part of the search engine page or results page, this is found usually at the top of the organic results list, this is because the search engines would give much importance to those that have paid for their site to be listed in page 1 of the most relevant keyword utilised by the user.

Many SEO companies and SEO consultants are also dwelling in the realm of Pay per click which means that although not really part of an SEO campaign it is still a marketing strategy recognised by SEO consultants and SEO companies. Pay-Per-Click is a campaign on its own however there are several steps or processes that are similar with search engine optimisation an example would be the goal of PPC which is to gain traffic and conversions for the website, a goal which is also the same as that of the goals of search engine optimisation. The following are different suggested strategies in pay-per-click.

1. Integrate a Call to Action statement – it is important that we understand PPC as a simple ad that will be seen by the internet user therefore it is very important that we integrate a call to action statement to motivate the internet user to click the advertisement and convert into a purchasing client.

2. Research and utilise keywords – Pay-per-click is also a keyword driven campaign that is why just like for an SEO campaign keyword research is very important as such keywords will also be the cornerstone of your whole pay-per-click campaign.

3. Sense of urgency is important – considered as one of the different marketing tricks is creating a sense of urgency this is where you give a time limit to your offer and make such irresistible offer expire at a certain period of time in order for the visitor of your website to immediately purchase your product or click your advertisement.

4. Give a clear and immediate offer – it is important to create a clear and immediate offer since you only have several seconds to convince a website visitor before he or she click away from your website.

These are just suggested strategies that you can do in your pay per click campaign it wouldn’t hurt to follow these simple advises from SEO consultants and SEO companies.

The main goal of search engine optimisation is to gather as many visitors and conversions as possible through different means or what are commonly known as SEO strategies. Gaining traffic being the main goal of search engine optimisation is also the main goal of another traffic-getting method and that is called the Pay per click. Although pay-per-click is known to be an independent strategy and not really a part of search engine optimisation many SEO companies and SEO consultants are also engaged in pay-per-click because of the fact that it is a method that can help gain traffic, conversion and revenue. Gaining traffic although a primary purpose of the SEO companies and SEO consultants in utilising pay-per-click in their campaign this is not the main goal, for SEO consultants and SEO companies their main goal for Pay-per-click is to gain as much conversions as possible. One drawback in the field of pay-per-click however is that unlike for an Search engine optimisation strategy , it requires an actual budget for a specific Pay-per-click campaign. This means that those who will be entering the realm of pay-per-click such SEO consultant and SEO company must be ready to prepare or allocate budget for the campaign. This is because of the fact that there is a need to bid on keywords on where you website is going to be advertised, further every click in the link going to your website corresponds to a particular amount of payment. Although there is such a drawback it is still a strategy that is being implemented by many SEO companies and SEO consultants because of the following reasons:

1. Pay-per-click implementation is done immediately and can be set-up easily. Users or SEO consultants or SEO companies would just need to sign-up on a PPC program and the campaign can already be set unlike for SEO where results or set-up would take some time.

2. Pay-Per-Click does not require any special knowledge unlike for Search engine optimisation.

3. There is no need for one to change the website design or parts thereof.

For SEO consultants and SEO companies they have considered keywords to be the cornerstone of every SEO campaign, choosing the keywords for the SEO campaign could contribute to the success or failure of a search engine optimisation campaign. Pay Per Click although not a direct part of an SEO campaign it has the same purpose and that is to gain traffic and conversion for the target website. Many SEO companies and SEO Consultants are also focused on conducting pay-per-click campaigns apart from doing SEO campaigns. In a pay-per-click campaign there is also a process of researching for the keywords to be used in the campaign therefore this means that keywords are also the cornerstone of the pay-per-click campaign. It is therefore imperative that when choosing the keywords that will be used in the Pay-per-click campaign would be extensively researched. Research is very important as the whole pay-per-click campaign will, just like in search engine optimisation, be built around the chosen keywords. However, in pay-per-click campaign the criteria for determining the keywords are different from that when keywords are chosen for the SEO campaign. The following are the different factors that should be considered when choosing the keywords that is to be used in a pay-per-click campaign.

1. Consider your clients or potential clients, who are the target audience of your product or website should be a determining factor. Therefore when choosing the keywords you have to put yourself in the shoes of a potential client.

2. Research on the websites of your competitors, it is important that you determine the different pay-per-click strategies that are being implemented by your competitors and analyse which would be the best strategies in pay per click should be implemented and which strategies would be improved.

3. Finally you have to consider the product itself, one cannot convince other people to purchase the product being promoted if one does not have the proper and extensive knowledge about the product. Therefore, one should also be well versed with the product.

SEO Positive, a leading innovator in ethical ‘white hat’ search engine optimisation, has been rated as the top pay-per-click (PPC) and integrated search marketing provider in the UK. The ranking was awarded by TopSEOs, an independent authority on search vendors, and represents the latest step in SEO Positive’s rapid growth to the forefront of the UK search marketing industry.

Whilst SEO Positive has been regularly ranked as a top 5 Search engine optimisation agency, this is the first time it has achieved the top spot in PPC and integrated search. The rankings have been awarded following an extensive evaluation by Top SEOs’ research team of SEO Positive’s ability to provide the best possible ROI and increased traffic from PPC campaigns.

“Pay-per-click advertising can be like pouring money into a black hole if the ads aren’t properly targeted and you don’t know how your budget is being spent,” said Ben Austin, SEO Positive’s Operations Director, “We’re delighted to have been recognised as the leading provider of pay-per-click and integrated search marketing for our expertise in managing successful campaigns that generate real ROI for our clients.”

SEO Positive has managed PPC campaigns for 100s of clients and differentiates itself by ensuring its clients know exactly how and where their investment is being spent. It achieves this through its proprietary PPC reporting tool which constantly checks which keywords are the best to target. This prevents costs from spiraling out of control and the PPC budget being drained the moment the tap is switched on.

SEO Positive’s experienced team also includes some of the best PPC consultants in the industry. Along with optimising PPC adverts so they maximise ROI and traffic, SEO Positive’s PPC consultants provide clients with monthly reports, both analytic and verbal, on the progress of their campaigns.

Clients can also access information at any time through SEO Positive’s recently updated Positive Reporting Suite. This application, accessible through SEO Positive’s website, provides a wealth of information, including rankings in over 1000 search engines (including local search results), reports on the number of backlinks and notes on the actions being taken to improve their rankings.
