The Royal Borough encompasses some of the most culturally and economically
diverse areas of London. Recently praised by a Joint Review for
the quality of our Social Services, we aim to consistently deliver
excellence and real opportunity for all. Based in North Kensington,
our Pupil Referral Unit is part of the Latimer Education Centre,
working with pupils who are out of school for a wide variety of
reasons. Working closely with parents, carers, education colleagues
and external agencies you will assess children's social and emotional
needs, undertake direct work with them and advise teachers and others.
This is a genuine opportunity to make a difference to the lives
of disadvantaged young people. This Quality Protects role combines
the autonomy of being the Unit's sole social worker, with the benefits
and support that comes from being part of a broader specialist social
services team. A qualified social worker, you will have significant
experience of children and families and a good understanding of
child development, statutory childcare work and relevant legislation.
A highly effective communicator and listener, you will be able to
relate to people at all levels and deliver a culturally sensitive
service. If you have the energy and enthusiasm to succeed in this
challenging, rewarding position you can look forward to excellent
training and development opportunities. In addition benefits include
interest free season ticket loan (after a qualifying period) and
subsidised leisure facilities. For an informal discussion, please
contact John Page, Children's Resource Team Manager on 020 7854
              5890. For an application pack, please telephone 020 7361 3451 (24

and relative poverty often found within the same street. Our Social

The Royal Borough has recently received an outstanding Joint Review,

our reputation for excellence in this high profile, customer-facing

              circa 33,200<br>
More and more critical systems are being installed on our servers.
The Council relies on its email, and soon the main financial systems
will be server-based. Our Lotus Notes systems support essential
services for our most needy residents. You will help support and
develop this growing server infrastructure. The Help Desk will also
look to you for technical backup. You should have spent at least
five years working with PCs and servers gaining a detailed understanding
of Windows NT Server, Windows 95 and MS Office. You should also
have experience of Lotus Notes administration. MCSE would be an
advantage. You will be a team player, focused on team and departmental
goals, supporting your colleagues as required and keeping them informed
of progress. Able to plan your own time, you will have a track record
of completing tasks to customer's satisfaction. You will have strong
analytical skills and take an innovative approach to problem-solving.
