The Requirement is to attend both Saturday and Sunday, 10am to 5pm

If you are just starting out
on the Professional Course cycle, you simply participate by observation and listening, as
when you set out on the Intermediate Diploma cycle. As you grow more familiar with
practices and procedures, you will benefit more. In the meantime, reflect on how a
baby learns to talk and walk - just by being around, without trying too hard, but when
ready for the struggle, the child stands up and the words just come. Take it easy
until you feel ready to meet the challenges.

Monthly Clinical Practice Training

Clinic Practice Training is to enable
Tutors and other students to observe your treatments and give you feedback to help you
improve. Practise the diagnostic and treatment methods you are learning.

* Timings: 10 am to 1 pm on the Saturday. Please arrive in good time to start at 10 am.

At Certificate level (and now during Supervised Practice) the emphasis is on
 practical and Practice Treatments.

At Intermediate level, the focus is more toward theoretical learning and Learning Treatments.

At the this Advanced (Professional Licence) level, students go through a complete
 process, under observation,of:

Looking, Asking, Listening/Sensing and Touching diagnosis,

followed by treatment, post-diagnosis and recommendations,

followed by Tutor and Observers' feedback.

In other words, to examine the whole process, in clinical conditions, under
 observation.

Each process has 1 student in the role of Giver, 1 Receiver, and at least 1
Observer – the triangulation that has proved so effective in Supervised Practice.

Each process should take up to one hour, followed by up to half-an-hour for
feedback from Receiver, Observers and Tutor

There will not always be time for every student to participate in all three roles
on the same day - so you must note what role you played on your Record of Achievement.

Case-Study Afternoons

Case Studies are a wonderful way of
learning. For the first six afternoons, (2pm
to 5 pm), hang out, listen, question and evaluate the case-studies offered by more
experienced students. Once you have attempted
your Int.Dip assessment you can start preparing your own case-studies: one for each
of the next 6-9 afternoons, based on the Guidelines
.. Please provide FOUR copies of each

Review and revise your treatments,
diagnoses and presentation as you progress
through the course, based on feedback from the case-study afternoons

Click here for Case-Study Rules and Guidelines

Students are required to produce between six to nine case studies depending on the standard.
If case studies are of the required standard by the sixth, six will be sufficient.
However if they are not of the required standard by the sixth a further three will
 be required.

Case studies should be based on a minimum of 7 and a maximum of 9 treatments.
First case studies may be based on less than 7 treatments.

Study Days

Visiting and Zen School Tutors help you
expand your awareness into other aspects of Shiatsu, or reinforce your learning, or
 familiarise you with assessment-management. As
in everything, the benefit you get from Study Days will depend on the use you make of the
 material in your practice.

Study Days run from 10 am to 5 pm. Please have the courtesy to arrive early.

The requirement is to attend at least 85% of the 12 Weekendsbefore
taking Assessment. The Licence is awarded on completion of 100%. You can
attend the Assessment Training Day at any stage and modules passed do not need to be taken
 again.
