<p class="health">Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine is a forum for sharing information concerning the practical use of alternative therapies in preventing and treating disease, healing illness, and promoting health.<br/>

Complementary or alternative therapies are a great help to many thousands of people who swear by them. However these therapists are not regulated in the same way that the more conventional medical treatments are. This may lead to great claims being made without necessarily having the supporting evidence of research or clinical trials.<br/>

You should be particularly careful if you are considering the use of ingested substances, such as herbs or homeopathy. They are not subject to the same strict regulations and do not have to undergo the same testing to ensure quality and safety.<br/>

Many therapies should only be conducted by a skilled and qualified practitioner. However you will find many training colleges who may award a diploma after very little study. In order to find a therapist , you should choose someone who has been personally recommended to you, or who has been recognised and acredited by the official organisation for that therapy in the UK. <br/>
<br/>
You should only use complementary therapies in consultation with your doctor as some natural remedies may be dangerous when mixed with other prescription medications. You should not stop or reduce your prescribed medication without your doctor's prior knowledge<br/>
