<p class="health">Industrial disease is any injury, illness or other health condition contracted as a result of employment, either through long-term exposure to a substance or from damage sustained through performing constant repetitive tasks. Examples of industrial disease include exposure to asbestos, vibration white finger and deafness.<br/>

Exposure to asbestos can have very serious effects on your health. Dust and asbestos fibres can scar the lungs causing breathlessness and persistent dry coughing. The disease, known as asbestosis can progress even after contact with asbestos ceases and can be fatal. Lung cancer is also another disease that can be contracted from inhalation of asbestos dust.<br/>
<br/>
Vibration white finger is any condition affecting the fingers, hand, wrist or arm where loss of mobility or dexterity is experienced as a cause of constant exposure to vibrations. Numbness and a constant tingling sensation are symptoms related to vibration white finger.<br/>
<br/>
As an industrial disease, deafness is defined as a permanent loss of hearing caused by excessive noise in the workplace, regardless of whether ear protection was issued or not. Tinnitus also comes under this umbrella.<br/>
