Annual Beatle Convention in Liverpool.</b><br>
Thursday 26th - Tuesday 31st August 1993</font>
<p><font face="MS Sans Serif" size="2" color="#666666"><b>WELCOME TO LIVERPOOL</b><br>
I am writing this on August 1st, 1993, after officially receiving the new we have been waiting for for 3 months. The Liverpool City Council hay intervened to save the future of The Beatles Convention and The
Magical Mystery Tour Daily Bus Service.<br>
Since we expanded the format, making the Beatles Convention the second largest annual Liverpool tourist event (after the Grand National the cost of organising the event has soared.<br>
It is fortunate that CCT own the Cavern Club, which has effectively subsidised the Convention and bus tours for the last 2 years.<br>
Without the income of the Club it is certain that the 1991 Convention would have been the last.<br>
We have, to some extent, been the victims of our own success and w are constantly trying to organise bigger and better events for you
to enjoy, and bigger names to perform before you. However this obviously results in greater and greater expense.<br>
After 10 years of trying to obtain financial support, all of us at CCT an extremely pleased that the City of Liverpool has at last recognised
the importance of The Beatles to the fledgling tourist industry or Merseyside, and also that now there is a willingness to acknowledge
that the Beatles are synonymous with the City itself and that it can be useful tool in improving the City’s image all over the world.<br>
If you attended last year’s Convention, don’t miss the British Council video at The Beatles Information Centre in Cavern Walks on Monday.<br>
<br>
Lots of familiar faces are on the video, which has been shown in 100 countries of the world. You might be on it!<br>
The highlight of the year for CCT? It must be, being in a position to say “See you next year” but a close second was Ringo’s first visit to
The Cavern in 30 years.<br>
Watch out for it on “Going home”, a Disney Ringo Special which was aired recently in the States and is expected here shortly. You can see it al The Blue Angel on Friday.<br>

<p><font face="MS Sans Serif" size="2" color="#666666">THURSDAY<br>
Join us for a “Casbah Weekend Warm Up”. If you are in town early you will want to go to the Casbah Party where music will be provided by The
Beatless.<br>
The coach will depart at 800pm from the Brownlow Hill side of the Adelphi. On the way back, at approximately midnight, the bus will drop off at the Cavern and the
Adelphi.</font></p>
<p><font face="MS Sans Serif" size="2" color="#666666">FRIDAY<br>
Things begin to get busy as the official weekend gets off to its traditional start at The Blue Angel Club, where the Beatles auditioned for Larry
Parnes, a well known British impressario.<br>
The music is provided by The Beatcombers, who you will be seeing lots of over the weekend.<br>
At 730pm the coaches depart for Litherland Town Hall, where you can see three great hands, The Fab 4, Apple and Cavern. This promises to be a highlight.<br>
Upon our return to the hotel get yourself to “Friday’s” Residents Bar, where The Beatcombers will play into the wee small hours (wasn’t that a Sinatra song?). Similar parties will be held at midnight in “Friday’s” Residents Bar on Saturday and Sunday, after
the Royal Court concerts.</font></p>
<p><font face="MS Sans Serif" size="2" color="#666666">SATURDAY<br>
The auction kicks off in Cavern Walks at l0am, and then it’s straight into The Cavern at
1.30pm for a lunchtime session from The Quarrymen from Ireland, and John Lennon’s original Quarrymen featuring John Duff Lowe and Len Garry.<br>
Doors (and bars) open at The Royal Court at 700pm for The Merseybeat Concert. All profits from the concert will go to Bob Wooler to help offset recent medical bills he has had to incur due to recent ill-health. I cannot think of a more fitting tribute to Bob than this gathering of Merseybeat
bands.<br>
Do not be late or you will miss The Merseybeats, who go on stage at
7.30pm PROMPT, as they have another gig in Wales later that night.<br>
Incidentally, Bob got a huge bouquet of flowers from none other than Paul and Linda.
Nice touch. Midnight onwards don’t forget Friday’s Bar for Residents at the Adelphi.</font></p>
<p><font face="MS Sans Serif" size="2" color="#666666">SUNDAY<br>
Buses depart for a Magical Mystery Tour at 10.00am. The Convention starts at midday and goes on till
7.00pm. The Royal Court doors (and bars) open at 7.00pm and the Convention Concert will be the best ever with performances by Neil
Innes, Badfinger, Pete Best, Denny Lane and Ringer. After that? Back to the Adelphi in Friday’s Bar (Residents only).</font></p>
<p><font face="MS Sans Serif" size="2" color="#666666">MONDAY<br>
From 11.00am onwards the first ever Mathew Street Festival, which we hope will become an annual event. Over 40 different bands from all over the world. Don’t forget, you need a ticket for unlimited access to all the venues. If you are still standing at
8.00pm The Finale Concert is at The Empire Theatre starring The Bootleg
Beatles. Then, into Jenny’s Restaurant and Bar at midnight for the VIP party featuring
Ringer. The bars will remain open till 4.00am (Residents only). What a day, what a finale!</font></p>
<p><font face="MS Sans Serif" size="2" color="#666666">TUESDAY<br>
Midday onwards, The Farewell Liverpool, Farewell Ringer, Yellow Spot 4 Party. Bands start at 1.3Opm and it goes on and on an on . . . TILL NEXT YEAR!</font></p>
