Would you like to influence the development of a well established
multi cultural OT service with clear priorities & defined budgets?
The Royal Boroughs Social Services Department needs a well organised
person to provide an imaginative, high quality OT Service to Children
with Disabilities. As a fully qualified OT with a minimum of two
years' experience, one of which involves working with disabled children,
you will already know the satisfaction to be gained from working
in the community and making a real difference to people's lives.
Being part of a multi-disciplinary Social Services Children and
Families Team and providing a specialist service to physically disabled
children and their families can be even more rewarding. In this
senior role you will both act as the Council's expert in Childrens
OT services and be involved in assessing the needs of disabled children
at home and at school or nursery. You will provide advice and information
to other colleagues, helping to plan appropriate services and forge
links with other agencies to ensure access to them. Taking referrals
from families, hospitals and colleagues in housing and social services,
you will also recommend building adaptations, provide specialist
equipment and generally advise parents and carers on how best to
maximise their children's abilities. Articulate and enthusiastic,
you must be able to deal with a busy workload and conflicting priorities.
You will be willing and able to shoulder responsibility, applying
with skill your knowledge of relevant legislation and awareness
of the issues affecting children and young people with disabilities
living in an inner city, multi-cultural area. IT competency will
also be needed to enable you to take advantage of our computerised
equipment ordering system that is both prompt and reliable, as well

Project for the Supporting People programme, and are enthusiastic
participants in the development of the programme at both a national
and local level. We are committed to monitoring performance in both
the statutory and voluntary sectors, to ensure high quality services.
This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to join an Inner London
Borough with a demonstrable record of innovative forward-looking
service development, achieved through partnership working that effectively
meets local needs. We are now looking for a motivated person to
become part of our team to: � commission housing and support services;
� prepare for the implementation of Supporting People. You will
have general commissioning responsibilities to build on our well-developed
partnerships with a range of local housing and support providers.
You will also have an additional remit to look primarily at the
needs of those with a Learning Disability, as the lead officer for
the Learning Disability Housing Strategy. You will also have a secondary
role to look at Older People's services. As well as this client
specific work, you will make a key contribution to our preparations
for Supporting People, involving extensive collaboration with both
the statutory and voluntary sectors. An important part of this work
will be to enthusiastically take part in Best Value processes and
approach to working. Our status as a Preparation Project for Supporting

sector colleagues, both in the acute hospital and community settings,
in order to ensure the identified needs of patients and their carers
are assessed. A high level of responsiveness and flexibility is
required and you will have the opportunity to be creative in setting
up care packages. Rehabilitation, Prevention and working with Primary
Care partners are amongst your priorities. DipSW qualified or equivalent,
you will need experience of working in a hospital setting and some
knowledge of local authorities. You should have a grasp of current
