Three seventeen year-olds and a fifteen year were in custody last

and wearing balaclavas to conceal their identities, raided a laundrette
on Malden Road in Gospel Oak last week in broad daylight. The men,
armed with a handgun, a large knife and an axe confronted a cleaner
who was on the premises.

When the cleaner told the raiders that she had no

A 60-year-old male pedestrian has been knocked down
and critically injured near Kentish Town police station by a squad
car answering a 999 call. The police car was travelling south down
Kentish Town Road with lights and siren on when it hit the man at
the junction of Holmes Road.

The car was responding to a call reporting an armed
robbery in progress at a betting shop in Kings Cross. The injured
pedestrian was taken to the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead where
a spokesman described his situation as critical but stable. The
police driver and his female partner were also taken to the hospital
suffering from shock.

This accident follows two other recent incidents
involving police cars in the area. In September, a Vauxhall Vectra
police car crashed into another car in Camden Town and a WPC had
to be cut from the wreckage. And only three weeks ago, two police
officers suffered minor injuries after a crash with another car
at Patshull Road.

London Underground's 80m redevelopment plans for
Camden Town Tube Station have been brought to an abrupt halt after
Mayor Livingstone said the proposals were 'misconceived both locationally
and in architectural terms'.

The mayor threatened to use his veto to block the
proposals unless they were substantially revised. LU has no choice
but to take the Mayor's views seriously because of his role as a
statutory consultant.

The current plans involve demolishing 25 businesses,
the Electric Ballroom and the Trinity United Reformed Church and
filling the land between Kentish Town Road, Camden High Street and
Buck Street with a large modern glass and metal building. Public
consultation on the scheme had already been started but has now
been put on hold until the development is re-worked.

Ken Livingstone's intervention comes despite five
years of work by LU and the scrutiny of eighteen different design
plans. LU said they were disappointed by the hitch but they were
unable to say what delay this might cause to the scheme's completion
which was originally expected by 2010.

The Mayor reserved his sharpest criticism for the
thirteen-storey tower block which was to provide the financial underpinning
for the scheme. He called the block 'monolithic and uninspiring.'
He added that he would be unlikely to approve any plan that did
not include at least 50% affordable housing. One of his flagship
policies has been to increase the amount of housing available to
Londoners on low incomes like nurses and other essential workers.

The upshot is that Camden residents and visitors
will have to wait at least a decade for the much-needed redevelopment
of the tube station which ahs become increasingly overcrowded in
recent years with 23 million passengers using it annually.

Dublin Castle pub which hosts live music. But Dublin Castle owners
say that they have well-trained customers who cause no disturbance.
Dublin Castle boss Henry Conlon even claims that his nine-week old
baby son can sleep undisturbed above the pub.

The pub has applied to Camden Council for an extension
