Membership

CSS welcomes membership applications from local authority Directors or Chief Officers and those with strategic service responsibilities for planning, transportation, environment, waste management and economic development throughout the UK. We asked some of our senior officers how they see the benefits of belonging to CSS. Their responses are shown:

Brian Smith
Whilst I don't have a technical professional background, I joined CSS when I took on a director post, recognising its strategic engagement in all the directorate key areas. In particular, I wanted to be part of a strong network and I recognised the contacts and the influence CSS had with Government.

Vice President
Alison Quant
I joined CSS because I thought it would help me understand and influence the issues of the day and get support on problems I was having difficulty with. I have not been disappointed but I think we may need to change further in response to the pressures we now operate under and the more fragmented local government structures.


Richard Wills
I value my CSS membership because it facilitates best practice, enables good networking opportunities and demonstrates its effectiveness in influencing national policies.
