The decision to move away from CSS is not one which has been taken lightly, and the members of the management committee recognise the reputation that the name CSS has, particularly within the engineering and transport sectors. However, the society has come a long way over the past 125 years, and the name no longer fulfils all the criteria of a successful name. Adopting a name with the prefix of ‘Association of Directors of ………’ will increase the appeal to the potential members we are hoping to attract. The introduction of a new name will uncover new opportunities for membership and influencing, and will help the organisation be more readily recognised for the wider remit it has.

CSS is very keen to gain as much input from both its members and non members on the new name. A quick survey has been devised to gather you thoughts on potential new names and invites you to submit any ideas which you may have, the survey should not take anymore than 2 minutes and the information gathered is vital in ensuring the new name is accepted amongst the future membership.
